Extended schools - a bad thing?

Just seen an article on the BBC looking at how some people are beginning to suggest that the concept of extended schools may have a bad effect on families. Delegates at the NASUWT conference raised concerns that some parents regarded their children as "accessories" to their busy lives, however, it does seem that their bigger issue is the possiblity that teacher may get lumbered with being involved in extended schools, and therefore have to work extra hours.
The whole extended schools issue is exciting but difficult. It is a great opportunity for churches to provide a service for the local community, but it is definitely going to be hard work.
