Formal dinner

Wednesday, April 18, 2007

On Monday night we held a formal dinner for our older mid-week youth group. The group has around a dozen year 13 students who are all about to leave to go to university. This term we are running a series of events and trips, using our funding from the Youth Opportunity Fund to say goodbye to them. This started with a formal dinner which the young people had helped to plan.
They decided what they wanted to eat (salmon and dips; roast lamb or vegetarian crumble; dessert trolley; cheese and biscuits; ferro rocher) and helped to decorate the church ready for the meal. We had encouraged them to dress up as smart as they could but weren’t sure what would happen – we were hugely impressed they all came in smart suits or dresses. It was a great evening, which they all thoroughly enjoyed, and a big thank you to Bryn, Marian, Margie and Paul for helping to sort out all the cooking etc. Not sure how well it would work with some of my other youth groups but was certainly a highly enjoyable evening, and the food wasn’t half bad!

Check out the church facebook account which has a whole load of pictures from the night (I think http://www.facebook.com/photo_search.php?oid=2227230214&view=all).
