England - always buckle under pressure in the final
Monday, October 22, 2007
In the last week we lost the football, the rugby and the grand prix. We are fantastic sportsmen who buckle under pressure. There is no way we should have lost against Russia, we were in a commanding position and managed to lose it. In the rugby we out performed considering where we had been five weeks ago after our 36-0 drubbing by South Africa, but it is disappointing that we didn't make the most of our opportunities. Lewis Hamilton, he has been brilliant, but in the last couple of weeks he hasn't quite nailed it. His start was appalling, and then the car had a temporary glitch where it wasn't racing at full speed.
The English - we like to think we are great at sport, and often we can be, but more times than not we seem to buckle. Just think about other sports, Tim Henman in tennis, our sprinters at the Olympics and World Championships and so on, and so on.
