Baby Jesus 'saved' by GPS

Friday, December 28, 2007

Just before Christmas there was news that a baby Jesus statue in a Bal Harbor, Florida nativity scene was being equipped with GPS to ensure that a theft earlier in the month would not be repeated.

Well elsewhere in Florida in Wellington they also implanted a small GPS tracking device on their $400 statue which, sure enough, was subsequently stolen late Wednesday. The tracking device was activated, and Jesus was found in a house a short distance from the community center. Police subsequently arrested Danielle Santino, 18, of Lake Worth, Fla. and charged her with grand theft. She was still in jail late Thursday. "I stole Jesus," she told police, according to the newspaper.

Thanks to Josh.
