Legendary Sunday morning service

Sunday, April 29, 2007

This morning was a legendary service! We had a blessing of a little child, which provided much humour, with David having his glasses stolen by a young child, so he had to stop reading his prayer! The young people seemed to really enjoy some of the music because it was stuff that they knew from school - amazing how some of the school songs are still the same 15 years later.

The family who bought their daughter to church for a blessing had bought loads of friends and family so we had tons of children, particularly in the creche. It was nice to see the church properly full on a Sunday morning and with so many younger people.

G Force (our 11-14) year olds had some great discussion about the 3rd and 4th Commandments, especially on the whole issue of how do we rest in a world which never stops. Listening to them talk about how they go out on a Friday night, Saturday is the day for activities e.g. drama, dance, and then Sunday is for family and homework, you realise how they never really stop. They also came up with some good designs to paint the grey cupboards that dominate one of my walls.

Afterwards I took some of the young people home and had a great time getting to know their families while they filled in forms to come on camp. The ministry with these families is going to be so key for us.
