How do you prepare young people for baptism and confirmation

Tuesday, September 25, 2007

We have a bunch of eight young people who have been involved regularly on a Sunday morning after a few of them made a commitment at a summer camp in 2006. It has been really exciting to see how they have developed, and how keen they are to grow in their faith. We mentioned to one of them a couple of Sundays ago about baptism and confirmation (being a union church between the Baptist and United Reformed Church we do both!) and since then they have come back having spoken with a few of their mates and are really keen to go ahead.
Our dilemma is that in the past we have run 'classes' on a Sunday afternoon in addition to stuff in church on a Sunday morning. With these guys being all from non-Christian families we don't want to get them out a third time on top of a Sunday morning, and their Thursday evening youth group. What we want to do is to adapt some material to use on Sunday mornings (normaly 30-45 minutes long). What do you use when preparing young people for baptism and/or confirmation? Please do comment away.
